Black Jack-Player Decisions and Actions

After receiving the initial two cards, there are four main options a player can decide to make using his hand as a signal to the dealer:Hit,Stand,Double down or Split a pair.In some casinos there is a fifth option called:surrender.

Using Hit is to get another card and the signal used for it is tapping your finger or hand once on the table.

Using Stand is to stay with the hand you have without taking anymore cards, the signal for it is to wave your hand horizontally.

Using Double Down is a way to double the bet by spliting the cards but each card gets only one additional card, the signal is to point a finger and adding more chips to the original bet.

Split Cards is used when getting a pair of cards in the same value and spliting them into two different games, recommended when getting a pair of high cards. The signal is spreading two fingers as a V and adding chips.

Taking the surrender option is done when the dealer has got twenty-one and you decide to surrender by giving only half a bet, there is no special signal for it, it is verbally done another thing you can do instead of surrendering when the dealer has got twenty-one is to insure the bet.

Introduction to BlackJack-A Quick Lesson For New Players

BlackJack is also named Twenty-one and in French it is known as Pontoon or Vingt-et-un. The game is widely played in casinos all over the world, the standard game involves one or more Anglo-American decks, one contain 52 cards. The main point of this game is to be dealt with cards that sum up to twenty-one starting with two cards(you can get lucky by getting twenty-one from the beginning with two cards).
After receiving two cards the player(that has a low sum) keeps getting dealt with single cards until getting a number wanting to play with, the trick is to get a high number without exceeding the sum of twenty-one or else you are disqualified.
Many confuse the game with British Black Jack and it’s not the same. The game is popular card counting(the other players+dealer), mix of chance and most importantly skill, the game is played in many variations and rules.

Book Review: The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book

The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book (by Lance Humble and Carl Cooper): Carl Cooper and Lance Humble weren’t so humble when they referred to their book as the greatest. Well, is it? The book is basically the ultimate guide to card counting tactics and basics. Not surprising, since blackjack is either a game of luck or a boring game of dry rules (don’t hit when the dealer has less than 7 on his flopped card). Thus, card counting is really the closest thing to a tactic in this game, and here lays, apparently, the best book about it.
Both authors have a Ph.D, which makes the book more interesting to read but not entirely right or helpful. If you don’t know how to read cards, this book will teach you. If you do – you might learn a couple of new tricks, nothing revolutionary. But if you’re an advanced card counter (beware, casino cameras are watching you!), you’ll learn nothing new about your `trade`, but might expand your views on the meaning of life.
Bottom line – if you’re a new comer to this game you you’d learn by reading what you would have learned by playing a straight week of blackjack. Intermediate and advance players should keep playing and learn by doing, not reading. My advice to all of you – blackjack is a fun game and not a way to make easy money, so keep playing and enjoy the game itself, the people around it and atmosphere at the casino and not play to win.

The Split and double tactics

Take a look first at your first cards. If the cards are not same (Ten, Jack, Queen, King), you disregard this chart. Move to the down situations, which are more frequent than the pairs. The color of action is red — it makes it very intuitive to learn the rules of casino blackjack. If the color of the cell is red, you split the pairs. For example, your first two cards are 9 & 9. The blackjack dealer’s up card (face card) is 9. Signal split immediately to the dealer — it is a split-pair situation. If dealer’s face card were 7, or 10, or 11, you do NOT split your pair of 9s. The color of the respective cells are grayed out (signifying no action). The color blue of a cell is most likely an ACTION: Split your pair (as most casinos allow doubling down after splitting the pairs).
